Spanish pianist Alejandro Picó-Leonís "displayed an enormous musical seriousness, and a stylistic knowledge full of multiple colors, displaying a beautiful sound, and an absolute control" (El Diario, New York), and "...impressive virtuosity and bravura" (New York Concert Review) in his Carnegie Hall debut at Weill Recital Hall, after being a winner of Artists International's New York Debut Award Auditions. Alejandro Picó-Leonís has concertized throughout Europe and the United States. He has performed at the Aix-en-Provance International Festival, Varna Summer Festival, Alicante International Festival, and Orpheus Baroque Festival, among others. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras including, the European Symphony Orchestra, Hunter Symphony Orchestra, Albéniz Symphony Orchestra, Albéniz Chamber Orchestra, and Orquesta Sinfónica de Alicante, under the baton of maestros Cristian Florea, Clayton Westermann, Laurine C. Fox, Paul Staicu, and Joan Iborra. Recent New York recitals include Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, The Kosciuszko Foundation, Steinway Hall, and the United Nations. This season includes appereances in Austria, Germany, Spain and the United States. He has studied with Prof. Ubaldo Díaz-Acosta, a pupil of the legendary pianists Alicia de Larrocha and Claudio Arrau. Picó-Leonís graduated from the City University of New York with a Bachelor of Music Degree ( magna cum laude) and a Master's Degree in Piano Performance. In Spain, he graduated from the Conservatorio Superior de Música Oscar Esplá and Conservatorio Superior Manuel Massotti. He has premiered works by living composers, such as the U.S. premiere of "Rhapsodie d'Alicante" for piano and symphony orchestra by Didier van Damme.
